MAYDAY Project
flight-aid's answer to both natural and man-made disasters is the Mayday programme. 'Mayday' is an aeronautical distress call and is derived from the French language (m'aider), meaning: 'to help me'.

Mayday is a disaster relief preparedness programme that shall quickly respond to a broad range of natural and man-made disasters such as epidemic disease outbreaks, famine, civil strife with injury and disease, major accidents, flooding and other environmental emergencies. In such cases the necessary aircraft and pilots will be provided to international organizations, NGOs and specialized relief agencies within short notice, and dispatched to the disaster area accordingly.

The purpose of this programme is to ensure prompt and effective response, thus reducing morbidity and mortality rates during disasters. Enhanced coordination, networking and communication among key players, are imperative to ensure the success of these
missions.

Summing it up:

  • Disaster relief preparedness programme
  • Quick response to epidemic disease outbreaks, famine, major accidents, flooding and other environmental emergencies
  • Prompt and effective rescue programme
